At Terp Coach, we understand the challenges and frustrations that aspiring interpreters face on their journey to becoming certified. We've been there ourselves. That's why we are here to bridge the gap between Interpreter Training Programs (ITPs) and national certification, providing you with the resources and guidance you need to succeed.
Our story began with a personal struggle. Hannah Riedel states, “After completing my ITP, I found myself searching for the tools and support necessary to pass national certification exams. Unfortunately, those resources were hard to come by. However, I refused to give up. With perseverance, determination, and a decade of hard work, I finally made it through the challenging transition from "pre-certified" to certified (EIPA).”
Terp Coach was born out of this transformative experience. Our mission is to empower passionate interpreters like you to pursue national certification with confidence and efficiency. We offer direct coaching, sharing the invaluable tips and strategies that I personally used to overcome obstacles and achieve certification.
Terp Coach is designed for interpreters who are ready to take their skills to the next level. We believe in intentional, deliberate practice and the practical application of the skills and knowledge that are often discussed in workshops but rarely applied in everyday work. We are happy to have Carly be part of our team! Carly is a wonderful one-on-one coach. Her background is in coaching and teaching. She graduated from California State University Fullerton in 2018 with her B.A. in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Special Education. She has more than 8 years of experience working with various sign language organizations.
Working with Carly will give you the ‘missing links’ you have been looking for! She is attentive to details, knows what to expect from qualified interpreters, and has the unique ability to coach you from the Deaf perspective of what to expect from professional interpreters.

Language Coach, TERP COACH NETWORK
Taylor Hanson, B.A., NIC, EIPA 4.1
As an experienced and passionate ASL interpreter with nearly a decade of professional practice, Taylor understands firsthand the challenges and uncertainties that come with navigating the journey to certification. After going through the process without much guidance, she recognized the need for a supportive and collaborative environment to help interpreters grow and succeed. "That’s why I decided to become a coach—because I believe that the path to certification should be empowering, not intimidating".
With a Bachelor's degree, EIPA 4.1, and RID/NIC certifications, Taylor brings a wealth of knowledge and practical experience to her coaching. Over the years, she has worked in a variety of settings, which has given her a deep understanding of the nuances and complexities that come with interpreting across diverse contexts.
Taylor's coaching focuses on personalized, one-on-one support. She works with interpreters to identify strengths, pinpoint areas for improvement, and guide them toward certification with confidence.
